This Summit will bring together the world's top thought-leaders and practitioners in global health, focusing on the three key health-realted Millenium Development Goals: maternal health, child health, and infectious diseases. It will also explore the roles of NGOs and universities in global health. The goals of the summit are:: 1. To discover solutions to improving health in the developing world, specifically exploring strategies to meet the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, in particular, to: a. reduce child mortality b. improve maternal health, and c. combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other preventable diseases. 2. To identify ways and means to build sustainable capacity for global health leadership, with specific insights into the current challenges that impact health, health resources and systems in developing countries. 3. To understand how best to reduce health disparities among vulnerable populations. 4. To understand how to deliver higher quality, more effective and more efficient services to greater numbers of people in nations with unmet needs and scarce resources. 5. To explore strategies to increase capacity and access to health care by developing human capital through medical diplomacy to improve evidence-based education and training.
