Health Policy Course at Harvard University Used DCP2  as a Foundation

Dean T. Jamison, Lead Editor on the Disease Control Priorities Project, taught a course this semester entitled “Disease Control in Developing Countries: Intervention Priorities” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and School of Public Health.

The course examined regional differences in patterns of disease, cause of death, and distribution of risk-factors in developing countries, using the Disease Control Priorities Project publications as the primary course materials. For the final project, teams of students prepared a paper and presentation assessing the burden of disease from a particular condition or risk factor; the cost-effectiveness of an intervention; or a country-specific application of disease burden and cost-effectiveness analysis. Professor Jamison encouraged teams to consist of an international mix of the policy and public health students.
