Policy Impact Highlighted at the Disease Control Priorities Project One-Year Anniversary Event
Fogarty International Center (FIC) of the U.S. National Institutes of Health hosted an anniversary event, “Disease Control Priorities Project: Implementing the Research Agenda,” celebrating the accomplishments of the past year since the launch of Disease Control Priorities in Developing Countries, 2nd edition (DCP2).
There were several highlights: Dr. Julio Frenk (Senior Fellow, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; and Former Minister of Health, Mexico) gave the keynote address discussing the use of DCPP in Mexican health policy reform; Sir George Alleyne (Director Emeritus, Pan American Health Organization; DCPP Editor) shared his experiences using DCPP to show Caribbean heads of state that lives can be saved with stricter tobacco laws; and Dr.
