PAHO Highlights DCPP’s ‘Best Buys’ in ‘Perspectives in Health’ Magazine

DCPP’s ‘Best Buys for Public Health’ and other cost-effective interventions are the focus of the lead story in ‘Perspectives in Health,’ the magazine of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). The piece emphasizes DCPP’s message that proven health interventions can greatly improve the health of a country, regardless of its economic state. The story describes the most cost-effective interventions for a variety of diseases and conditions, including alcohol, cardiovascular disease, malaria, maternal health, oral health, and traffic injuries. As Sir George Alleyne, one of the nine DCPP editors and Director Emeritus of PAHO, puts it: “Any country can make progress in health if they make the right decisions and the right investments.”
